While the status of the reform efforts are still uncertain, and the prospect of universal health care is a thin one, there are ways to get health insurance even if you're part of the growing number of self employed or freelance workers. And you definitely need health insurance: the single biggest cause of personal bankruptcy is health care related and the of people without coverage are the single biggest piece of the bankruptcy pie.

Most people get their insurance through their jobs, where the large pools of customers give a bargaining advantage to customers that insurance companies can't ignore. This is a good bet for the insurance company as well, since they can spread the risks of payouts across a large number of clients in order to ensure they break even. If you're a freelance worker or self-employed you don't have those advantages, which can really increase the cost of any plan you qualify for. There are some rays of hope however, starting with the introduction of the COBRA plan in 1986.

COBRA stands for Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act, a bill passed through congress to provide some support and relief for independent workers looking for health insurance. COBRA was an act that provided health insurance to unemployed or retired workers that also applies to self employed workers. COBRA is a government health insurance plan that provided some limited coverage, but isn't particularly well considered, with high premiums and generally ineffective administration. In lieu of a real general health insurance policy produced by the government, it won't meet all your needs, so you're more likely to have to look into private options for real health insurance.

There are some HMO (Health Maintenance Organizations) that offer local plans for self employed workers at reduced costs. HMOs limit the doctors and procedures they cover to reduce their costs but some insurance is better than none. Being regional, they're difficult to speak of in a general sense, but you can look into them at your local chamber of commerce.

There's also NASE, the National Association for the Self Employed, which has several special plans for freelancers. These policies are provided through the MEGA Life and Health Insurance Company, and while they're national they aren't the most comprehensive of plans. A related option is the Freelancer's Union, a quasi-union designed to offer protections to freelance and self employed workers though group leveraging. These options depend on the state you're in and they offer health as well as other types of insurance.

If you are of the Christian faith, there is also a unique health insurance alternative called Medi-Share. Technically it is not insurance, but provides much of the same coverage at a small cost to the customer.

Some states, like New York and Connecticut, have state health insurance plans open to freelancers. While they tend to offer effective and cheap care, they're naturally limited to the state they're offered in and this can complicate injuries or illnesses that occur when traveling or if you're not in one of the participating states. Because many of these options are state-dependent, you should check out your state's insurance offices to find out what applies to you and what the coverage types are.

Finally there's the premium option of just buying an individual health care plan. These vary from state to state as well, and without anyone else behind you they're often more expensive than other options. Some insurance companies have special plans for the self employed so you should check with the companies in you area to find the right option for you.
Everywhere you look - someone is telling you how much money you'll save - enticing you to look up their car insurance quotes. Before leaping into the murky pool of car insurance quotes - take a look at these five steps that will surely help you get the best quotes.

1) There are many car insurance companies that will gladly compete for your business. Obtain car insurance quotes from at least five car insurance companies. After all, most people shop around before making a major purchase - it only makes sense to shop around when looking for car insurance quotes.

2) When filling out the necessary information to obtain car insurance quotes - be certain the information you submit is accurate. Car insurance companies tend to find out "things" anyway, so you might as well be as accurate as possible. Car insurance quotes are only as good as the information upon which they were calculated. It's important that the information you use to obtain your quote is the same information the car insurance company will use when writing your policy.

3) Obtaining car insurance quotes will usually require that you submit information such that a "salesperson" will be contacting you sometime after you receive the quotes. It's important that you don't let this person talk you into purchasing a car insurance policy until you have received car insurance quotes from all of the insurance companies you're researching. You don't need to be rude - but simply inform the "salesperson" that your research is not yet completed and you won't be making a decision today.

4) When you have received all the car insurance quotes - narrow the list down to the two best quotes. Do some research on those two car insurance companies. Focus on the aspects of service which are most important to you.

5) Most importantly, make sure you are the person in charge of the car insurance quotes. More specifically, take all the necessary steps to insure that you will truly receive those rates that were quoted. In other words, don't let a car insurance company offer you attractive car insurance quotes - then tell you later that because of "this or that" you will need to pay more. Remember, you are the customer - you're in control and there are many other car insurance companies that will always be interested in your business.

Consumers today are looking for ways to save money on things like groceries, household expenses and other bills. It's no wonder than, that people are also looking for ways to save money on car insurance. If you are in the process of trying to cut back and find a more affordable car insurance product to meet your needs, here are some great ways to compare car insurance quotes to get the best value for your hard earned money.

What Features Are You Looking for?

Determine what features you want for your car insurance policy before you call companies asking for a quote. That's right, before you get on the phone or start contacting insurance companies online, think carefully about what you need to meet your minimum needs. Are you looking for a basic policy that meets the minimum legal requirements in the event you are involved in a fender-bender, or do you want something with "bells and whistles" like 24/7 roadside assistance, towing repair help or car rental coverage? Some companies will offer these things at no additional charge, while others charge a monthly fee for these features, so be sure and decide what you are looking for before you start placing those first calls requesting quotes. Otherwise, you will be easily convinced to sign up for things that you may not desire.

Evaluate the Condition of Your Car

As you begin calling for quotes, you will be asked various things about your vehicle itself, such as if you are leasing it, buying it new or used. You'll be asked if you want full coverage or just liability. Depending on your local laws, you may be asked to include comprehensive coverage, collision or any number of other ranges of coverage. You will want to be sure that you carry the legal minimums.

Legal minimums are the bare necessity, but you also want to take into consideration what it would cost you today if your vehicle was totaled and you had to replace it. Is your car in brand new condition and a recently manufactured model? Does it have dings, dents or mechanical challenges? Is it a classic model that would be impossible to find parts for? These are the things you need to consider when asking for quotes and going with the best options for you - not just the dollar value the companies are quoting.

How Are Your Driving Habits?

When you start calling for quotes, one of the things that insurance companies will look at very carefully is your driving history. That includes anyone else in your household that is driving too. If you are a safe driver, you can expect and ask for discounts for not having any reportable accidents or tickets. Be sure to ask about any driver reward programs too. Some companies send a bonus check or give a substantial discount each year if you have not had any accidents. Also, consider how far and why you will be driving your car. If you have a short commute to and from work daily, then let them know. If you stop driving on a regular basis for any reason, let them know that as well. This can factor in lots of additional savings for you.

The best way to compare insurance quotes is to figure out these things in advance then start calling around to reputable companies and requesting a personal quote. Be sure to have all of your vehicle and driver's license information readily available before researching, and make sure to write down the various features and benefits of each plan before deciding the one to go with. Let each company know that you are calling around for quotes, and they may offer you incentives and discounts to use them rather than a competitor.
This can prove to be quite a task dealing with insurance adjusters and the things that come with it. When filing an auto accident insurance claim there are some things you should know that will prove to be essential to you.

Contact your insurance company very soon after the accident. This is the first one to call in case of injury also. Take time to read what pertains to your auto accident insurance claim when you first receive your insurance policy this will help clear up any misunderstandings before accidents happen and will give you an idea of what your auto accident insurance claim entitles you to instead of having to worry about it while your going through the trauma of an accident.

When you writing your statement include as much details of the auto accident as possible. You can reinforce your claim by taking pictures of the vehicle and any injuries that may have been sustained due to the auto accident. Take down names and numbers of any witnesses that may be able to help in proving your auto accident insurance claim when the time comes. Remember to take notes on any other persons or vehicles that were involved in this accident because this is very important to your claim.

Keep all records pertaining to your claim. Write down when you have a conversation with the insurance officer, agents or anyone else that is involved with this auto accident insurance claim. Remember to keep all the bills and receipts that you may incur during this time. It is important to be honest with your insurance company because if you are not you could be disqualified due to fraudulent reasons. An auto insurance claim has been turned down many times on these same bases.

Another important thing to remember is that you may make more than one auto accident insurance claim, so check any other policies you may be holding to verify this. Take time out to review all your policies. You may be entitled to file more that one auto insurance claim, so make sure you claim for all that you are able to claim for.

When making an auto accident insurance claim there are some things that you must remember to do. Make sure you do them all and keep records.

Most people get a series of health insurance quotes when shopping around. Everyone requires health insurance of some sorts, whether you are single, married have kids or are a student - and quotes help narrow down your options. However, the process can be quite a tedious one! Not only will this decision affect your levels of medical care, it will also affect your pocketbook. This article will help you manage the choices available to you when shopping for a health insurance quote, so that your medical requirements and budget are both met satisfactorily.

Most of the health insurance quotes that you'll receive will be grouped into one of three categories:

Health Insurance Quotes: Indemnity of Fee-For-Service Plans

The plans that our parents used to use were probably indemnity plans; these health insurance quotes allow you to visit any doctor of your choosing. Highly desirable by many people, these types of health insurance quote are in great demand, however, they are becoming harder and harder to come by, and seem to be creeping up in price. But many consumers are willing to pay this price, because of the convenience and flexibility these plans offer.

Health Insurance Quotes: Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs)

HMOs are becoming more and more common lately; most health insurance quotes are for this type of plan nowadays. HMOs are, essentially, a group of health service providers who bundle their services together in a fixed price option. If your doctor doesn't refer you to certain care, then you won't be eligible to receive payment for it under your health insurance quote. These types of plans are good for people who know they won't need any specialized services, and if your budget is a factor, this is one of the lower, and more predictable options.

Health Insurance Quotes: Preferred Provider Organizations (PPOs)

PPOs are a health insurance quote that combines aspects the two aforementioned plans. PPOs offer the same type of managed group services as HMOs, but also allow users to go outside of their network without a referral. It only makes sense, though, that using this option will cost you more out-of-pocket expenses, but it is covered partially. PPOs are a good middle ground health insurance quote option; you get the flexibility of using your group of health care providers or ones outside of the network, and the costs for this type of plan are in the middle range of the three (although costs can be a bit less predictable).

Health Insurance Quotes: Where to Go?

Many consumers get their health insurance quotes from their workplace, which may or may not be partially paid for through the company. If your company doesn't offer this benefit, perhaps talk to professional organizations, unions, banks, club or other group that you belong to - they may have an option that is attractive to you. If you cannot find group coverage this way, you can always opt for individual coverage - but this is by far the most expensive health insurance quote option out there. Talking to an insurance agent who can assist you with the quote process is a good idea, if this is your only avenue.
Canada in not only a popular vacation destination it has the strongest economy in the G8. The strong Canadian economy means that Canada is a hot spot for business travelers, foreign workers, new immigrants, and international students.

Also, Canada has an aging population which means that the health care system is overburdened. Canada's health expenses rival the United States as the most expensive in the world.

Sample medical costs in Canada:

Simple doctor visits cost approximately $150
Ambulance approximately $250
Non-critical hospital stay cost around $3,500 per night
Air ambulance around $20,000
etc.

Medical expenses can become financially crippling. To ensure personal safety, Medical Insurance is highly recommended for all foreign visitors to Canada.

The good news is that medical insurance is quite affordable. For example, good individual coverage can be purchased for a 40 year old for about $5 per day, and an entire family can be covered for about $15 per day.

Canadian insurance companies have developed medical insurance plans for all types of visitors to Canada. Weather you are a business traveler, international student, foreign worker, new immigrant, or simply vacationing in Canada, a plan designed to suit your needs is available at an affordable rate.

New immigrants to Canada are not entitled for provincial health insurance until they gain landed immigrant or permanent residence status.

Foreign workers in Canada

The Canadian labor shortage has provided opportunities for foreign workers to come into Canada on a work visa. Unfortunately, these work visas are usually issued for 6 months minus one day... this is one day before the foreign workers become entitled for Provincial health insurance coverage. This means that personal health insurance must be purchased to cover emergency medical costs for the time spent living in Canada on a temporary work visa.

Inpatriate Medical Insurance

Employers can provide medical insurance to foreign workers by purchasing Inpatriate Medical Insurance. Inpatriate Medical Insurance can be purchased for the six month work visa. Inpatriate insurance can be purchased for durations as short as one month for workers who have already arrived in Canada. Coverage can be purchased at levels of $100,000, $500,000, or $1,000,000. Single, Couple, or family coverage is also available. Inpatriate medical Insurance coverage differs from Visitors Emergency Medical Insurance as it provides for non-emergency medical visits.

Single, Couple, or family coverage is also available.

International Students in Canada

Canada is a world leader in education. Many international students prefer Canada for their foreign education destination. Not all international students are qualified for government sponsored health insurance.... and for those who are eligible may have to wait three months before the coverage becomes effective. Also, international students not attending eligible educational institutions will not be covered by the provincial government health insurance plan. Private medical insurance will be required. International students can decide to purchase complete Health and Hospital Insurance or only Emergency Medical Insurance

Health and Hospital Insurance
As well as emergency medical coverage, non-emergency health costs and prescription drugs are also covered up to maximum amounts. Medical coverage of to $1,000,000 is offered. Coverage can also be obtained for the students spouse and family while they are residing in Canada.

Emergency Medical Insurance

If you have a kid who is getting ready to drive, you will find that car insurance is not more affordable for your kid than it is for yourself, except you have a particularly bad driving record. Why is this? Car insurance in Canada for teens is more expensive because teens are more risky drivers to cover.

Higher Rates of Accidents

Both Canada and United States allow teens to drive, but statistics show that this may not be the safest choice. In 2007 in the United States, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that 13% of all drivers that were in fatal car accidents were between the ages of 15 and 20. While this %age is dropping, as it was up 9.1% in 2006, it is still a danger. The statistic increases to 15% of all police-reported crashes that were not necessarily fatal. Canadian statistics are almost similar. Other statistics show that teens are as much as four times as expected as adults to be involved in an accident with a fatality.

On top of this lies the detail many teens drive while intoxicated. MAADD of Canada reports that 40 % of teenage drivers who are killed in car accidents were involved in those crashes because they had been drinking. Statistics indicate that teens are less likely than older adults to drive after drinking, but those that do are at a higher risk than an adult to get in a crash. These two facts mean that teenage drivers must pay more for Canada insurance products for drivers.

Possible Reasons for the Risk

Why are teens at higher risk than older adults to be involved in a car crash?
Experts believe there are two reasons. First, many teens are risky drivers due to the fact that they do not always think through the consequences of their actions. They may drive too fast in order to get to school on time or are easily distracted by other passengers in their cars. They are also more expected to text or talk on the phone while driving than an adult, despite bans on such actions.

A lack of skill is another factor. Teens simply have less time behind the wheel than most adult drivers, which makes the likelihood that they will be in a crash that much higher. Because of this, motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death among North American teens. In fact, in Canada around 11% of all driver deaths are teen drivers, and teen drivers are responsible for over 20% of all passenger deaths. Car insurance Canada insurers recognize this and assign higher rates as a result.

What Can Be Done?

One option, which has been successfully tried in Ontario, is to implement a graduated licensing program. This allows teens to get their driver's licenses only after completing a series of steps. This gives teens more chances to practice driving in less distracting environments. Young teens cannot drive late at night and have limits on the number of passengers in their vehicles. This can reduce teen car crashes by as much as 60 %.

Parents can also help out by modeling good driving to their teens. As a parent, make sure that you are driving with no distractions like cell phones and teach your kid how to stay safe. Also, keep your kid responsible when using the family car, and make sure that you know who will be traveling with him.

Teens are more risky drivers than adults. Teens are four times more likely to be involved in fatal accidents than adult drivers, and because of this auto insurance rates are going to be higher. Rest assured, however, that with the proper teaching and enough practice, your teen does not have to be part of this statistic.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2790533532794667452.post-41802649251233052212009-10-01T03:08:00.000-07:002009-10-01T03:08:26.732-07:00Group Insurance Canada - Three Key Options For Canadian Businesses!

You may have heard that the figure of insurers in the Canadian marketplace has declined over the years. This is true ... sort of. The conventional life insurance companies have consolidated their group operations into just a few key players. But there are some innovative Group Health Insurance solutions being offered now. And even the conventional group plans have had to look up their offerings and make improvement to stay competitive.

So what options are there for a business to provide a group health benefit plan?

1. Conventional Group Insurance Canada

Everyone is familiar with conventional workplace health benefits. They provide basic life insurance coverage, a disability insurance safety net and Accidental Death and Dismemberment Coverage. They also offer Prescription Drug and Dental coverage and extended health benefits like chiropractic, psychology, massage, and the like. There are a lot of different ways to build a benefit plan now and a good broker will help you to find the right coverage for the financial plan of your business.

2. Administrative Services Only (ASO)

An Administrative Services Only plan can offer all of the same benefits that a Conventional Group Plan.
So what's the difference?
The difference between ASO and a conventional group plan is that the ASO is basically self insuring. This reduces a lot of the "mark-up" in the group plan but also boosts the risk of high claims to the business. This risk can be reduced through the use of stop loss insurance. All in all an ASO plan can keep a business a lot of money while reducing on the whole costs.

3. Health Spending Accounts

A Health Spending Account is essentially a savings account set away for the purpose of medical spending. Incorporated professionals and small business owners find that this is a dynamic way to pay for health expenses they already have and to save for potential costs. A HSA is recognized by the Canada Revenue Agency and allows the person to pay for their annual healthcare costs in pre-tax dollars. Money put into the HSA are recognized as a full business deduction. This saves significant tax dollars. Of course there are limits to be put into a Health Spending Account. They are realistic limits.

So you can see that there are options to implement a health insurance plan for your business and employees. You might be amazed that you do not have to break the bank!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2790533532794667452.post-8794791851784874292009-06-16T08:03:00.000-07:002009-06-16T08:09:02.848-07:00Is Long-term Care Insurance Worth It?
Many people are unwilling to purchase long-term care insurance (LTCI) until much later in life - in their 80s rather than in their 50s, say - but a host of recent articles have been turning up in everything from senior care trade publications to small local dailies, which touch on the subject of the LTCI industry trying to welcome the burgeoning senior baby boomer market. LTCI is an idea many do not want to entertain, and yet aging and long-term care always will be an issue. So What Is To Be Done? Some naysayers speculate that it's obviously in the insurance companies; favor to have these premium payments rolling in.

But to them we would like to point out that even with that being salient, LTCI;although possibly in wolf's clothing - is still a sheep, because the consumer will pay less if insurance is purchased when they are still young and (hopefully) healthy.

So When Should You Start Looking into Your LTCI Options? Over time, a LTCI recipient actually pays less - not just incrementally, but as a whole - because the premium is not only based on the age at which you buy, it is typically locked in from the beginning. Here's an example from an upcoming article by Gilbert Guide's CEO, Jill Gilbert, in Active over 50 magazine: If a healthy 55-year-old woman purchases an LTCI policy at about $1,500 a year, by the time she is 85, she will have only paid $45,000 for thirty years of coverage. But for that same policy, a 65-year-old woman pays around $2,800 annually, which means that she pays $56,000 for twenty years of coverage - a marked increase. Waiting to buy an identical policy at 75 increases the annual cost to about $7,500; this means that the oldest policyholder in this comparison ends up paying $75,000 for only ten years of coverage - a whopping 400% increase from the 55-year-old woman!

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Allen_JessonUnknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2790533532794667452.post-15806811947895976882009-06-16T06:28:00.000-07:002009-06-16T06:33:53.596-07:00Choosing an Auto Insurance Company
Nowadays, especially in the big city, the status of car possession has changed from secondary need into primary need. And as the primary need, car becomes a crucial property for the owner. That fact defines that having auto insurance is not an option anymore, it is a necessity.

There are a lot of auto insurance companies that sell insurance policies. However, before you choose to buy an insurance policy from one company, you have to make sure that the auto insurance company is licensed to operate by the states. That drives you to have an additional security from law. If you have problem with your auto insurance company, your states will be able to help you deal with the company. Then, you have to know what kind of claim insurance that the company will cover for, so you already know what you expect when you car needs a repair after the accident. And the last, the company that you choose supposed to be the expert one, because what you need is a protection financially.

The insurance companies have too many criterions for their customers in dealing with the rates. The customers need to be careful with these. Type of the car for example, if the customers who apply for the auto insurance are having high class transportation vehicles, it is going to be hard for them to get the lowest rates. Because giving the high class car insurance with low rates will make them get burden with a high risk. Well, high class car cost a lot to repair when they get crush, and it is possible that the premium that the car owners buy form the insurance companies will not enough to pay all of the costs. That's why they charge the owners with a real high rate.

Once you decided to have a car, the next thing that you have to do is contact an auto insurance company. When your goal is to keep rates as low as possible, you will want to examine the level of coverage you have to make sure you are not over-insured. After you have examined how much coverage you need then it is important to compare rates from multiple companies in order to find the absolute cheapest auto insurance in Las Angeles, California.

Each state sets minimum levels of auto insurance coverage that all drivers must have. In CA, you must buy at least the following insurance:

$15,000 in Bodily Injury Coverage for an Individual Injured in an Accident

A $30,000 Cap for Injuries Suffered by Two or More People in the Same Accident

$5,000 in Property Damage Coverage

People buy insurance to protect their assets and if you don't own a lot, buying only the minimum level of coverage mandated by law may be sufficient to do this. However, if you own a home or other property, it makes sense to take steps to protect these things from legal action if you are involved in an accident.

Another way you can keep your Los Angeles car insurance rates down if you own an older vehicle that has depreciated is to cancel your collision insurance. Normally, this type of coverage pays for damage to your vehicle, no matter who was at fault for the accident. If your car is fully paid for, you may be better off deciding that you will buy a new vehicle yourself if yours is totaled in an accident.

In a situation where you are making loan payments on a car, many lenders want to make sure that you have collision insurance in place, so they will get paid if a loss occurs. Once the car is paid for in full, you are paying the same premium rate and getting less coverage since the insurance company will pay for repairs up to the value of your vehicle at the time of the accident, not what you originally paid for it.

As you can see, there are several strategies you can use to get cheaper rates when you are shopping for auto insurance in Los Angeles. Why don't you try all of the ones that make sense for your situation?

Get started comparing Los Angeles, California car insurance quotes today!

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=James_J._RobinsonUnknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2790533532794667452.post-11169212005452373492008-07-28T20:42:00.000-07:002008-07-28T20:54:25.493-07:00Auto Insurance Company Rankings - How Does Your Car Insurance Company Rank? Why is it important to search out auto insurance company rankings? As a conscientious consumer, you need to do your own research before you make a good decision about which company to buy your coverage from.

A company that offers low rates may not be such a bargain if you have a very difficult time reaching someone from the company to answer questions or deal with a concern. There are so many things to consider. You need to know about all the ins and outs of life insurance in order to choose the best policy. If you know a few insurance basics as you set out on your search, you are far more likely to get a good policy.

Types: One of the first things you need to consider when buying a policy is the type of policy. You can choose a whole life policy or a term life policy. The main differences in the two policies are that whole life is a permanent policy that gains cash value and a term policy is a policy that does not gain cash value and is temporary for a set term. Be sure and speak with your insurance agent to determine whether a New Jersey whole life insurance policy or a New Jersey term life insurance policy will best meet your needs.

Terms: Another thing you need to consider is the terms of the policy. Some policies will pay out only upon death, but others will pay out for other circumstances. If your main goal is to protect your family when you can no longer be there to provide for them financially, then it may be best to search for a policy that will pay out for situation where you can not work, such as illness or injury.

Underwriting: You also need to consider the underwriting process. Many people wait until they are older to get a policy because they do not see the need for one at a young age. The truth is that once you are married or have a child you probably need life insurance. Getting it at a younger age may also allow you to lock in a low premium.

During the underwriting process you are evaluated. The company will look at your medical history, credit history and your general situation. They are looking for anything that could make you high risk. If you work at a high risk job, for example, then your premiums will be higher. Usually health issues are the main cause of high premiums. Getting a policy when you are young and healthy will help you get those low premiums.

Quotes: You should seek quotes on a life insurance policy from a variety of different companies. Even though the underwriting process of insurance companies is usually the same, you may still find rates vary greatly from company to company. You can also get quotes on different types of policies to see what will work best for you.

Get started comparing New Jersey life insurance quotes today!

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=James_J._RobinsonUnknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2790533532794667452.post-72312182609437974722008-07-28T18:35:00.000-07:002008-07-28T18:36:16.452-07:00Arizona Whole Life Insurance Basics - Read This Before You Buy an AZ Whole Life Insurance PolicySo you're scanning the Internet for information on Arizona whole life insurance basics? An insurance company considers a number of factors when determining an applicant's level of risk, including price and cost to repair.

An expensive car will be more expensive to replace if a total loss occurs, and insurance companies are sensitive to this fact. A big price tag on the dealer's lot may lead to a different kind of sticker shock when you contact your insurance company to arrange for coverage. A way to avoid it (or at least be aware of what you are getting yourself into) is to contact your insurance company to get an idea of the cost to insure the vehicle before you buy it.

The same thing applies to a vehicle that needs custom auto parts. Anything that adds to repair costs has the potential to add up to higher premiums for car insurance coverage.

If this doesn't make sense to you yet, look at the idea from the insurance company's point of view: Anything that means the insurer will have to shell out more money in claims increases that driver's level of risk as far as the insurance company is concerned. If you want to keep your insurance costs down, choosing a vehicle that is more expensive than average to get back on the road after an accident won't do it.

Instead, you will want to find a vehicle that can be prepared with standard auto parts. It will be less expensive to run, whether you are making a claim against your insurance policy or not.

Whether you have a car with expensive or custom parts or not - it always makes sense to shop around and compare car insurance rates. Rates can vary dramatically from one company to the next so be sure and compare quotes from at least 5 different companies.

Get started comparing car insurance quotes today!

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=James_J._RobinsonUnknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2790533532794667452.post-16683661346884496042008-07-28T18:29:00.000-07:002008-07-28T18:30:00.838-07:00How You Can Save With a Dental Plan Vs Dental InsuranceI'm compelled by good nature to share an incredible discovery. In doing some comparisons of a dental plan to a dental insurance, I discovered some very important distinctions. With the recent need to cut back on many of our expenses, a vast majority of us are facing the struggle to keep our health insurance cost at a minimum. And for many of us, the added expense of dental insurance is something that is put on the back burner until it's too late. Even if you have dental coverage with your current insurance policy, when it's time to visit the dentist we find that the insurance policy does not cover everything we think it should. Have you ever tried to use your dental insurance when you have had your teeth whitened? Good luck. With a dental plan, cosmetic dentistry is covered.

I think it is important to learn the facts before you decide on how you can best decide on the purchase of insurance coverage for something so important.

Almost all dental insurance companies use what is called a Usual, Customary and Reasonable (UCR) fee guide. This means that the insurance company sets their own price that they will allow for every dental procedure that they cover. This is not based on what a dentist actually charges, but what the dental insurance company wishes to cover. For example, your dentist may charge $95 for a dental cleaning, but your insurance company will only allow $64 because that is the UCR fee that they have set. With a dental plan, the company sets the price you will pay the dentist even if he charges more.

At least 90 percent of dental insurance policies carry a "missing tooth clause" or a "replacement clause." Many dental insurance policies include at least one of these clauses, but most have both. A missing tooth clause protects the insurance company from paying for the replacement of a tooth that was missing before the policy was in effect. For example, if you lost a tooth before your coverage started and later decided that you would like to have a partial, bridge or implant, the insurance company would not have to pay for that service if they have a missing tooth clause in the plan. A replacement clause is similar except that the insurance company won't pay to replace procedures such as dentures, partials or bridges until the specified time limit has passed. In my research I found dental plans will cover you within 24 to 48 hours including preexisting conditions and one company even covers dental implants.

Well, now you have an alternative to that expensive necessity and it's called a Discount Dental Plan. For a small annual membership fee you can visit your dentist for anything including preexisting conditions and cosmetic dentistry. A good dental plan even covers things like dental implants which most dental insurance policies do not cover. You'll be amazed by the savings you can experience as a member of an inexpensive discount dental plan.

LibertyDentalPlan.com has been providing and administering dental benefits for over 20 years.

When you are ready to compare dental insurance plans visit Fariba Zargar's website for some comparisons of the best dental plans

Our goal is to provide members with appropriate dental benefits, delivered by highly qualified dental professionals in a comfortable setting.

We would like to assist you in making an informed decision amongst a variety of dental insurance plans such as prepaid dental, PPO dental and discount dental plans. Snowmelt repelled by frozen ground can cause flooding, which means many of America's states which see snowfalls every winter are at risk. New development can leave less soil surface to absorb water, making formerly safe homes suddenly vulnerable.

Yet a typical homeowners insurance policy these days will not cover those perils. A homeowner will need separate flood insurance, says Consumer Reports, which ranges in cost from several hundred to several thousand dollars a year, depending on coverage and risk levels. This is a difficult fact to accept for most homeowners, but it needs to be appropriately acknowledge because the money that you set yourself out to lose if you don't properly insure your home could be much more than these extortionate prices.

In recent disasters involving both wind and flood damage, some insurers have tried to pin the blame on floodwaters (not covered by their policies) rather than wind (covered) and used that distinction to deny homeowners' claims. This is another reason why it is imperative that when buying home insurance you must ensure it covers against floodwater damage - remember wind damage does not cover you against water caused damage.

In an average year, a quarter of all flood losses involve homes in areas deemed low to moderate flood risks by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. In part, that's because many of FEMA's flood maps are not up-to-date. Remember to be cynical when looking at FEMA's and other similar statistics regarding the probability of your area being affected by floods. Even with today's modern technology climate prediction is a very delicate and unpredictable science which is constantly needing updating. Overconfidence could lead you to losing thousands in an attempt to save a mere few pennies.

According to an expert at the Consumer Federation of America, while with most insurance, if there is any doubt consumers are advised not to buy it, in the case of flood insurance they recommend the opposite. Take this advice and purchase some flood insurance to protect yourself against any future risks.

Some common questions asked include:

Do I have to buy it? If someone is using a federally backed mortgage to buy a home that's judged to be at high flood risk, the lender may require it. Otherwise, it's the homeowner's call.

How do I determine my home's flood risk? For a preliminary assessment, CR suggests that homeowners go to www.floodsmart.gov, click on Your Flood Risk and enter the home's address. The level of risk is determined by the property's location on the community's flood map. Homeowners can see for themselves at their local municipal offices.

How do I buy it, and how much should I get? Most insurance agents sell national flood insurance. Generally, they recommend replacement-cost coverage for the home and contents; that is, coverage to rebuild the home to its state before the flood and to replace its contents.

Unlike some homeowners insurance, CR notes that a national flood policy generally won't pay more than the policy limit if rebuilding costs run higher than anticipated. Finding cheap car insurance, whether you're in OR, are considered high risk or not often involves the same steps.

What Is A High Risk Driver?

To break it down into simple terms, a high risk driver simply means that the insurance companies statistically can prove that you have a higher risk to be involved in an accident, not pay your bill, or get a ticket.

If you have one or more of the following factors, most likely you have found the unfortunate spot of a high risk driver: low credit score, 3+ moving violations in a 3 year period, 2+ at-fault accidents in a 3 year period, license suspension, DUI, SR-22 request, lapse of insurance due to non-payment or non-renewal, and young drivers between the ages of 16-25.

Finding Cheap High Risk Oregon Auto Insurance Rates

To ensure that you can find cheap high risk Oregon auto insurance, just utilize the advice that anyone can use to lower your premium. (And, of course, drive safely).

1. Know your discounts. There are available discounts that revolve around other things than safe driving. If you are a young driver, maintain a GPA of 3.0 or better and receive a substantial discount. If you have multiple vehicles, combine them onto one policy for a discount. Insure your auto and homeowners with the same company for a discount on both policies.

2. Sell your 2008 BMW and buy a 1995 Toyota Corolla. The more expensive your vehicle is to replace, the more expensive it is to insure. Also, with an older vehicle you can stick with the liability coverage, whereas a newer vehicle will require comprehensive and collision.

3. Compare leading auto insurers to local insurers. This is the most important aspect to finding cheap high risk car insurance. Certain insurance companies may specialize in high risk drivers and be able to offer a better rate than some of the main auto insurance companies.

Don't Delay - Find The Cheapest High Risk Oregon Car Insurance Today!

Although finding cheap high risk Oregon car insurance isn't the easiest task, make it simple for yourself by beginning immediately and comparing rates online.

Get started comparing Oregon car insurance quotes today!

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=James_J._RobinsonUnknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2790533532794667452.post-37534318761609412122008-07-15T06:57:00.001-07:002008-07-15T06:57:44.640-07:00Cheap Auto Insurance Companies in ConnecticutTo find a cheap auto insurance company in Connecticut, you must first understand the basics of what coverage is required and then what is recommended. Builder's All Risk Insurance:

Usually during the contract negotiation stage, when it is as yet unclear as to which party will be accepting which liabilities, which party will be responsible for procuring the insurance and absorbing the deductibles, etc., both parties look more deeply into the breadth of available BAR coverage.

We can say that Builder's Risk Insurance for the energy class of business provides coverage under three different forms:

London Institute Builder's Risk Clauses 1.6.88 (CL 351) - or American equivalent
WELCAR form
Custom forms tailor-made to specific risks or Owners or shipyards.

Is the protection provided under all BAR policies the same? No! For a comparison between wordings please contact a trusted insurance broker of your choice.

2. War Risks and Strikes, Riots, Civil Commotions (SRCC):

a. Institute War Clauses Builder's Risks 1/6/88 (CL 349) -

Coverage incepts once the vessel is launched (or wet) and provides coverage for loss of or damage to the insured vessel / rig caused by:

war, civil war, revolution, rebellion insurrection, or civil strife arising therefrom, or any hostile act by or against a belligerent power
capture seizure arrest restraint or detainment, arising from perils covered above, and the consequences thereof or any attempt thereat
derelict mines torpedoes bombs or other derelict weapons of war.

b. Institute Strikes Clauses Builders' Risks 1/6/88 (CL 350) -

Provides coverage for loss of or damage to the insured vessel / rig caused by:

strikers, locked-out workmen, or persons taking part in labor disturbances, riots or civil commotions
any terrorist or any person acting maliciously or from a political motive.

We recommend that this coverage be amended to include Vandalism and Malicious Mischief.

Please also review if the terrorism coverage provided under this clause is either restricted or broadened, or if there are any other applicable clauses such as Sabotage & Terrorism Endorsements. In any case, be sure that the coverage afforded is adequate for your Client so your Client makes an informed decision.

3. Liability - Insurance coverage that protects an insured against claims made by third parties for damage or injury to their property or person. These losses usually come about as a result of negligence of the insured. In marine construction, this policy is referred to an MGL, marine general liability policy. In non-marine circumstances, the policy is referred to as a CGL, commercial general liability policy. The construction contract should determine which parties are liable in which instances for losses of Third Party Liability nature.

Insurance policies can be divided into three broad categories:

Product Liability - Protection against a Manufacturer's liability for injuries or property damage after a manufactured product has been sold. Extraordinary liability accompanies the manufacture of a product.
Completed Operations - Protection against a Contractor's liability for injuries or property damage suffered by Third Parties as a result of the Contractor completing an operation.
"Trips & falls & damage" - Protection against injuries or property damage on premises or hulls within care, custody, control of a party.

4. Umbrella Liability - This type of liability insurance provides excess liability protection. Your business needs this coverage for the following reasons:

It provides excess coverage over all the "underlying" liability insurance carried.
Instead of purchasing a large limit on all of an insured's policies, this structure allows an insured to purchase the coverage once to sit atop various policies, thereby increasing the limit for many policies.
We recommend that this coverage provide automatic replacement coverage for underlying policies that have been reduced or exhausted by loss.

5. Additional coverages available for consideration during the construction phase:

Cargo / Transit Insurance - to protect against All Risks of loss of or damage to the shipments of material, equipment, etc. that will form part of the construction (i.e., the topsides from Russia to the UK)
Marine Delay in Start-Up - to protect against lost profit plus extra expenses due to the delay in arrival of critical components; for instance, due to thrusters being dropped into the water during loading of vessel - causing a 3-month delay in project (due to back-order of specific thrusters required per specifications)
Hull & Machinery & Protection & Indemnity Insurance - to protect against All Risks of loss of or damage to the vessel / rig - and liabilities resulting from the vessel / rig - during transport after completion at Yard (for instance, if delivery is not ex-Yard, but rather at final drilling Site)
Hull & Machinery & Protection & Indemnity Insurance - to protect against All Risks of loss of or damage to any vessels / crane barges that might be used to assist in the construction of the vessel / rig
Liquidated Damages Insurance - to protect against penalties for failure to satisfy an agreement; for instance, for late delivery of unit due to losses of a BAR nature
Political Risk Insurance - to protect a foreign entity against loss suffered due to political risk nature (including Confiscation, Nationalization, Expropriation, Selective Discrimination, Contract Frustration, Inconvertibility & Non-Transfer of funds, etc.)
Professional Indemnity (PI) Insurance - to protect against legal liability arising from any professional negligent act, error or omission in rendering or failing to render professional services by an Assured. We recommend that you look into the design and engineering work and contractual requirements and track records involved in the rig, and see what protections are already in place.

The standard requirements of both Owners and Shipyard:

Workmen's Compensation / Employers' Liability as required by applicable statute
Auto Liability as required by applicable statute

6. Coverages available for the shipyard post-delivery (relating to the construction phase):

Following delivery of a unit to an Owner, usually Maintenance & Discovery coverage is purchased.
Warranty coverage is also possible.

What is the difference between Maintenance Coverage of a Builder's Risk Policy and Warranty Coverage?

The Maintenance Cover is simply an extension of the Builder's Risk policy, which in this case survives delivery of the vessel to the owner, with coverage being no broader than that contained elsewhere in the policy, subject to all of the conditions and exclusions of that policy.

The Warranty Coverage is "back-to-back" protection of the Assured's contractual Warranty Clause to Owner. This means that the Warranty Clause from the contract actually becomes the insuring condition of the Warranty Policy.

Nausch, Hogan & Murray is an international insurance broker with over 30 years experience in marine insurance. One of our many areas of expertise is Shiprepairer' Legal Liability Insurance where we have access through our worldwide network of offices to all the underwriters who specialize in this unique form of insurance.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Bridget_MeenaghanUnknownnoreply@blogger.com0
